INDIANA YOGA STUDIO 200-HOUR TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM
“We don’t see things the way they are. We see them the way we are.” Talmud
Our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program is nationally accredited by Yoga Alliance and is touted as one of the most creative and comprehensive teacher training courses in the state of Indiana. We go above and beyond the minimal national standards, giving our trainees the ability to implement their creativity by sequencing a yoga class they can call their own. Our students not only learn the basics of how to develop safe yoga sequencing, but also learn how to sequence according to one’s nature during different seasons, affecting mood and overall health through Ayurvedic principles (Indian medicine). Be in the heart of Monumental Yoga while assisting June 21st! IYS is a major sponsor helping to bring yoga into our local schools.
Our master teachers offer classes based on the foundational teachings of Krishnamacharyia/Vini-Yoga, Iyengar, Anusara & Ashtanga Yoga, which are all based on Hatha yoga. This program is directed by Chris Yovanovich, proprietor of the Indiana Yoga Studio and its senior teachers. She has been developing and teaching 200-hour and 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training programs over the past 9 years and has graduated over 150 talented yoga teachers in the state of Indiana in several yoga studios and Butler University. She also serves as adjunct professor at Christian Theological Seminary for a 200-Hr. teacher training course specializing in Yoga and Spirituality with Dr. Helene Russell (The first of its kind in the state of Indiana). IYS conveniently provides you 2 different locations to obtain certification at both their Brownsburg and Lebanon studios.

Our staff lovingly directs our students one simple step at a time. It is a journey as unique as each individual is. We simply serve as a field guide, respecting where each student is on their path of learning. While we realize we are all connected, we also know that we all learn differently and have different paths by which we fully develop. It is for theses reasons that we use every modality of learning possible. Reading, discussion, art, music, humor, movies, dance, field trips and journaling are just some of the activities students enjoy during their training. We believe that the more you experience and have fun, the more you can truly understand instead of just learning poses through rote repetition. The more you truly understand, the more you can integrate your life-changing learning and share it organically with others. Simply listening to lecture does not cut it. Our training is on a pass/fail basis. We do not believe in creating undue stress by placing an A-F grading scale on students. Our teaching style has been inspired by the Montessori method of teaching.
